We’ve the seen the tide changing lately — from the Occupy Wall Street protests, to progressives winning local elections across the country, to the resounding victory in Ohio where voters overwhelmingly rejected Gov. Kasich’s anti-union agenda.
Our win in Ohio began in Wisconsin, when we stood up and fought back against Governor Scott Walker.
When Gov. Walker attacked working families in Wisconsin, tens of thousands of protesters swarmed the capitol in Madison and occupied the building for weeks on end in the freezing winter.
DFA members were part of those protests. From there, we helped build and lead the biggest, boldest, loudest field campaign Wisconsin has ever seen — and it worked! We defended three of the Wisconsin 14 and kicked out two of Walker’s Republican cronies in the Senate, sending shock-waves that forced Republican Governors in other states to back down, and created the energy to win in Ohio.
It’s time to return to Wisconsin and finish the job — by destroying Scott Walker in the recall election this spring.
Already, 270,000 voters in Wisconsin have signed the petition to recall Walker. We have the momentum behind us to force a recall election this spring.
But Scott Walker isn’t just sitting idly by. He is already running misleading ads and has been raising unlimited amounts of money from his corporate allies, including the Koch Brothers.
Walker’s corporate friends are prepared to do whatever it takes to keep him in office, no matter the cost. We need to send them a message: you can’t buy your way into controlling this country. You don’t own it — we do.
I traveled all over Wisconsin for the Senate recall elections in August, seeing first-hand the hard work of our canvass teams and volunteers from Madison to Whitefish Bay to La Crosse. I’ve been through a lot of Election Days, but I can tell you none of them matched the energy, determination and passion I saw in Wisconsin.
We’re ready to do everything we can again to win this fight — and we need your help to do it.
Scott Walker started the war on working families, but we will finish it.
Thanks for everything you do.
