Frederick Douglass’ Fourth of July Speech

As you listen to this, it is almost unbelievable that a black man had enough courage to make a speech like this in pre-Civil War America.

One of the greatest American speeches of all times. Some of it is sadly still relevant. Delivered by Ossie Davis. 24 minutes, but well worth it:

Always remember that America has been a work in progress from day 1. Equality for all citizens is still an idea that has yet to fully take hold in this country.
