- Columbine Anniversary
Believe it or not, this Friday, April 20th, is the 19th anniversary of the Columbine massacre.
In our now upside down world the horror of the events at Columbine didn’t drive our country to a sober assessment of the relationship between our populace and guns, instead it drove explosive gun sales and the sickening spineless response of legislators who bowed like weak twigs to the pressure of the NRA.
Now 19 years and many massacres later a group of young survivors of a massacre are leading this country to finally begin to assess America’s love affair with guns.
So on the anniversary of Columbine student walkouts are scheduled for some 2,127 schools across the country. In Iowa walkouts are scheduled in these schools at this writing:
Cedar Rapids Kennedy
Dysart Union HS
Cedar Falls – Peet Junior High
Iowa State U. – Ames
