Voting Starts Wednesday!
20 seconds:
Find your closest No Kings gathering here. We have all been through this many times so I think you all know what to do:
Most of the events will be on Saturday. The objective for this iteration of the “No Kings” protest is to motivate Americans to vote. Most states have started the early voting process. If you are not sure where and when you can be voting, please check with your local county auditor’s election website.
In Iowa early voting will start next Wednesday October 14th. You can check if you are registered on vote.org.
I don’t need to tell people that his year’s election is the one of the most critical in our nation’s history. While there are many issues, the unstated yet most important issue is to blunt the power of our current authoritarian president and his cult of toady loalists in the national congress and senate.
To vote for Republicans in this year’s election is giving a stamp of approval to the illegal policies of his administration.
Speaking of illegal policiess of the Trump administration, let me remind you that even though the election is only 3 weeks away, there is lots of rumors flying that the administration may actually deploy troops to polling places. If not troops there may be volunteer Republican poll watchers deployed to cause disruptions at certain polling places.
In order to avoid any disruyions on election day itself (November 3, BTW) we always vote early. We do not do it via mail. With this administration, who knows what shenanigans they may play with the mail? No, we usually go to the auditors office to vote. When we are done we hand it to a county employee. This way (we believe) that our vote is safe and will be counted. No question about mail integrity, getting to the polls on Election Day, no concern about disruptors and still some time left over if our plans go awry.
Most counties have satellite and evening voting during the run up to Election Day. Once again check the county auditor’s website for dates and places for satellite voting.
Let’s go Dems!
