Sunday Funday: Hoping For A Harris Victory Edition

President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hand out candy at Halloween (1 hour)

One of the more interesting stories in Iowa in the past week is how Iowa’s SoS Paul Pate has tried to do his MAGA part in this election by suddenly coming up with a list of what he claims are 2022 non-citizens who may attempt to vote in this election. Of course this is hokum and Pate is merely trying to inflame the hate against immigrants and “others.”

Zachary Oren Smith now of Iowa Starting Line and formerly of Iowa Public Radio does a great job of sorting out the story. Pate did not have to take this to the conclusion that he took it to. The public hype could have been avoided by Pate, but he will be running for re-election in two years and he must have thought he needed a veneer of a politician above the fray by creating a fray.

So, Paul Pate sheds any dignity he has for a nod from the MAGA crowd. “Puppet Paul” seems to fit the situation. Not to be outdone, Brenna Bird started chirping her inanities on this story. Iowa deserves so much better from its public servants.
