Today is the 2nd district workshop and Hall of Fame Dinner in Ottumwa. There are then other events throughout the next week:

Iowa 2nd District Workshop and Hall of Fame, Saturday, June 17, Ottumwa
– You can learn about issues, campaigns, party leadership, and running for office at a day-long workshop in Ottumwa on Saturday, June 17, starting at 9 a.m. and going until 5 p.m., followed by a Hall of Fame Dinner with special guest Jason Kander, Missouri’s former Secretary of State who ran for the United States Senate in 2016. Cost of the workshop is $15, and for the Hall of Fame Dinner it is $50. See this event page for more details and registration information:

Summer of Citizenship Kickoff in Cedar Rapids with Rob Hogg, Tuesday, June 20
– Join me at Dublin City, 415 First St. SE, in downtown Cedar Rapids, to kick off the “Summer of Citizenship” in Cedar Rapids on the Summer Solstice, Tuesday, June 20, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Contributions to “Citizens for Rob Hogg” are welcome but not required. Please RSVP at this Facebook event page and share it to invite your friends:

Summer of Citizenship Canvass Training, Wednesday, June 21, Davenport – The Davenport Eastside and Bettendorf Democrats are sponsoring a canvass training, conducted by myself, on Wednesday, June 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Kelly’s Irish Pub, 2222 E. 53rd St., in Davenport. Please RSVP at this Facebook page and share it to invite your friends:

Rob Hogg Central Iowa Fundraiser, Monday, June 26, Des Moines
– I will be holding a fundraiser for “Citizens for Rob Hogg” on Monday, June 26, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Peace Tree Brewing, 317 E. Court Avenue, in Des Moines. I don’t have a Facebook event page yet for this event, but I did want you to get it on your calendar.

We need to raise money for local Democratic parties, for Democratic candidates, and for advocacy organizations. I need to raise money to cover campaign expenses including staff assistance to do the work that needs to get done. Overall, I believe Democrats need to raise $40 million or more for the 2018 election cycle, so please contribute generously as you are able.

You can bring a check to “Citizens for Rob Hogg” to one of my fundraising events, or mail your check to P.O. Box 1361, Cedar Rapids, IA 52406. You can also contribute online here.

I hope you can attend one or more of these events. If you want me to appear at an event, or if you want a list of ideas for the Summer of Citizenship, please email me at Some key ideas are:

Join your local Democratic party or advocacy group
Register people to vote
Get to know our Democratic candidates for office
Organize a study group, education program, or service project in your community
Invite people to contribute financially to the party, candidates, and advocacy groups
Speak up with elected officials and staff in person, by phone call, by mail, and in public

Remember: The answer to our problems – with the President and Congress in Washington, D.C., and the Administration and Legislature in Des Moines – is a renewed spirit of citizenship.

Thanks for your work as a citizen. Together, we can have the biggest political comeback in Iowa history.
