The way I figure it, Terry Branstad is taking his pension for being governor, so he owes it to get the hell out of the governor’s office and retire. He can’t seem to figure out that when he gets a going away gift, he is supposed to go away. We need to tell him in no uncertain terms that his services are no longer needed. I will even say Please if it will help.
Over this past term Branstad has shown more and more that he is the governor for the rich in Iowa and could care less about the middle class. His actions have included vetoes millions of dollars for food banks that if I recall correctly passed nearly unanimously. Just this year he vetoed spending that the House and Senate put together to address some of the states biggest needs. Terry don’t care. I almost hate to mention the monstrosity he created out of Medicaid because he couldn’t just do the right thing and accept the ACA version .
All in all, the newly minted Branstad still is a lousy governor. Plus we have another set of new scandals that has your taxpayer dollars going to pay hush money to fired state workers instead of being used for the projects that we pay our taxes to support. At a base level he is little different than Chris Christy.
Jack Hatch has been a champion of the middle class his whole life. He is a major advocate of health care reform and especially education. He will be in short the kind of governor that Iowans will be happy to have when they sit around the kitchen table and discuss family issues – pay, education for the kids, environment, health care, taxes.
Take your retirement and get out of Des Moines, Terry. Time for Jack to bring back the integrity in government.
