Did anyone else notice that on the same day that the professioal sports world did not fall apart when it was revealed that there was a gay person in their midst, one of the leading icons for those who oppose homosexuality was released from his professional team? Which once again proves that no matter how morally pure sports will claim they want to be by whoever’s standards it all comes down whether the guy can play the game or not.

Measles Outbreak in Wales
For all those who don’t believe in the immunization series for children, Wales is currently going through a an outbreak and some deaths are resulting.

Iowa Version Of The Clown Car
Remember how much fun it was watching the republicans who wanted to run against Obama last year. When it seemed like the strange quotes and the run to the right edge of extremism would never stop? Well, it looks like the republicans may be gearing up for a minor league version in Iowa next year. Remember that during a primary the extreme of the Republican Party will be the most likely to vote and therefore will be the ones candidates for Tom Harkin’s seat will be playing to from now til the primary. This will no doubt give Bob Vander Plaats some king making power.

So who may be in the clown car? Well, not Steve King. Tom Latham and Kim Reynolds have said no. Bill Northey just joined the parade of those who won’t run. So who does this bring us down to?

So far, no one has jumped in for sure. But names have been floated like state Senator Joni Ernst, former state Rep. Rod Roberts, Secretary of State in Training Matt Schultz, and former US Attorney Matt Whitaker. Schultz is the only one I am familiar with and only a bit at that. No doubt his grandstand play to take away minority voting rights will play well on the extreme edge.

Pay attention to this one, it looks ripe for some real out there quotes.

Crazy Weather?
My feeling is no. Since this is the time of year many plant their tomatoes, many will rmember some year or years when they put their plants out only to be nipped by frost or even snow. Not normal, but certainly not totally crazy. However if it snows in July, that will catch our notice!
