Sunday Funday: 55th Earth Day Edition

4:23

Let me first acknowledge that yes today is Easter. However, with the way Christianity has been misshapen and used as a cudgel in recent decades I will leave it alone only to acknowledge that it is a holiday celebrated today.

Earth Day is Tuesday. Fifty-five years ago in 1970 it was first celebrated to focus our collective spirits on an ailing planet and what we could do to save the only planet that we have and will ever have. There ain’t no ’Planet B,’ folks. Nd if we don’t take care of this one it will no longer support us or the myriads of other forms of life we share living space with.

So take some time this week and think seriously about what you in your own life can do to make life sustainable for all of life on Earth. I would offer quitting eating meat as one suggestion.

A) Payback, by gawd! The Stinky Pants regime has announced legal action against Maine since Maine refuses to ban transgendered athletes. How many athletes are they talking?

B) What US Senator flew to El Salvador Wednesday and was able to meet with the person kidnapped and rendered to that country by ICE?

C) Uniting the right! What two extremist right wing international leaders paid calls on Stinky Pants this week?

D) Another school shooting by a white supremacist at what college campus Thursday?

E) Earth Day: On Earth Day, 2015 what agreement was signed by 174 signatory countries that aimed to keep global warming below 2 degrees C?

F) According to Dean Blundell, loyalists to Stinky Pants have been told to ditch their flag lapel pins and wear what lapel pin instead?

G) With today being Easter and the price of eggs being historically high what are some parents dyeing instead?

H) Besides being Easter, what two other groups have a reason to celebrate today 4/20?

I) The campaign is really started early for next year. Joni Ernst picked up another opponent last week. Can you name him?

J) And while we are at it, who announced a challenge to Ashly Hinson for next year already?

K) China emits the most greenhouse gases (GHGs). What percentage of the world’s GHGs is China responsible for?

L) Stinky Pants is threatening to fire what economists that he can’t really fire because the economist won’t do what Stinky Pants tells him?

M) What is the “greenhouse effect” in environmental lingo?

N) Pretty much unreported on the US mainland, Puerto Rico suffered what disturbance for a couple of days last week?

O) What pillow entrepreneur and buddy of Stinky Pants claims that he is now “flat broke”?

P) A Whistle blower in what area reported DOGE goons breaking into computer systems and giving access to Russian hackers among other crimes?

Q) More than half of our breathable oxygen on this planet comes from what source?

R) What US senator said in an interview that “we (MAGA senators) are all afraid because retaliation is real”?

S) Stinky Pants told an international visitor that his country should get ready because what group of people would be rendered to prisons in his country?

T) Finally for today, Iowa just passed a law that students must pass a citizenship test to do what?

Justice Sotomayor with a bone-chilling warning: “The implication of the Government’s position is that not only noncitizens but also United States citizens could be taken off the streets, forced onto planes, and confined to foreign prisons with no opportunity for redress if judicial review is denied unlawfully before re-moval. History is no stranger to such lawless regimes, but this Nation’s system of laws is designed to prevent, not en-able, their rise.”

D) Florida State University in Tallahassee

E) The Paris Agreement. I believe Stinky Pants pulled us out

F) a golden bust of Stinky Pants

G) small white potatoes

H) Stoners (I have no reason why 4/20 is a meaningful number to them) and those who follow Hitler – born on this date in 1889

I) Nathan Sage, executive director of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce

J) Democrat Kevin Techau, a former Iowa commissioner of public safety and U.S. attorney

K) 26%

O) Mike Lindell

P) National Labor Relations Board – truly scary stuff

When Trump and Musk tout how much money they’re saving by gutting cancer research and Social Security services, know this:

Their IRS cuts will cost $500 billion in tax revenue just this year. That’s more than half the Defense budget.

None of their destruction is actually about saving money. – Hillary Rodham Clinton

And here is a gentle reminder that Miller-Meeks has been invited to a Town Hall in Davenport on Earth Day. Hope you can be there to greet her:

    Bonus Funday Nature Question:

    U) After the very-misleading announcement that the dire wolf has been brought back from extinction, numerous scientists pointed out that a genetically-tweaked gray wolf is not a dire wolf. But in spite of that, which Trump appointee celebrated the alleged dire-wolf return by strongly implying that many extinct species can be brought back in future and that endangered-species lists could become obsolete (which would be very handy for Trump’s drill-baby-drill agenda)?

    U) Doug Burgum, Secretary of the Interior
