Armistice Day Observance 2022

Veterans for Peace

If you are in the Iowa City area today, the public is invited to attend an Armistice Day Observance. Anti-war activist Ed Flaherty, Veterans for Peace, holds this event every year.

Armistice Day Observance, November 11

Veterans For Peace #161 is sponsoring an Armistice Day Observance on November 11th at the Iowa City Ped Mall just north of the Graduate Hotel.  It will begin at 10:30 am, and will end after the ringing of bells eleven times at 11 o’clock.

The observance is being held to commemorate the end of World War I  on November 11th in 1918.  Veterans For Peace #161 invites the public to stand with us for half an hour to honor and remember all victims of war and to re-dedicate ourselves to the work of peace.  Free and open to the public.
