Donald Trump and Joni Ernst
Over the weekend, amidst the ongoing pandemic and the #BLM nationwide protests, a new poll was released showing Democrat Theresa Greenfield ahead of Republican Joni Ernst by two points in the race for U.S. Senate.
This is within the margin for error, and of course things can certainly change between now and November. But it seems to me this poll documents a downward trend for Joni. link link There is no question that this is very. big. news.
If Ernst was ahead by two, that would indicate a tight race, which we already knew. But the fact that Greenfield is actually polling ahead of Ernst is rather astonishing. The Cedar Rapids Gazette headline did not highlight Greenfield’s 2 pt. lead the most interesting poll result in the story. Poll Suggests Tight U.S. Senate, Presidential Races – Results suggest the state’s purpleness.
The upshot is this race is winnable. Please consider a donation to Theresa Greenfield’s campaign if you can. Even if we un-elect Trump, if Mitch McConnell and the Republicans control the U.S. Senate they will block everything good that Democrats will try to do.

Candidate for U.S. Senate Theresa Greenfield, Rural Iowa City, Iowa
This is from the Greenfield campaign:
FiveThirtyEight just said the Senate is up for grabs and the path to taking back the majority runs straight through Iowa.
Theresa is officially the Democratic nominee to take on extreme Senator Joni Ernst, and a new poll shows Theresa leading by TWO points. This race is neck and neck. Mitch McConnell and national Republicans have already pledged to spend millions on this race, so we know it’s only a matter of time before the attacks against Theresa start. We need to be prepared to fight back.
Theresa isn’t taking a dime of corporate PAC money. If we’re going to have the resources to flip this seat, and the Senate, then we need help right away from grassroots supporters like you.
Thanks,

Theresa Greenfield
