Glenn Beck Admits It Was An “Awful Lot Of Fun” Tearing The Country Apart

tea baggerYes, Glenn Beck actually said this earlier this week.

“I remember it as an awful lot of fun and that I made an awful lot of mistakes,” Beck told Kelly of his time at Fox. “I wish I could go back and be more uniting in my language because I think I played a role, unfortunately, in helping tear the country apart and it’s not who we are and I didn’t realize how really fragile the people were. I thought we were kind of a little more in it together. Now I look back and I realize if we could have talked about the uniting principles a little bit more, instead of just the problems, I think I would look back on it a little more fondly.”

I think this is a huge story and I am therefore (not) amazed it hasn’t gotten more news coverage – although they did discuss it on Morning Joe today.

So hello, all of you conservative radio-shock jock listeners/Fox watchers, of which there are zillions in Iowa, what do you make of this?  The emperor has no clothes!  He has just admitted he did a bad thing and made stuff up for fun.  He had no idea you all actually believed him!

Not to mention believed in him.

Blog for Iowa has been raving for years about the harm to the country by right-wing media.  And now Glenn Beck says he’s sorry for his role in tearing the country apart.

Well, ha ha ha, it was all in good fun!  Reminds one of the high school prankster who trips you in the hallway causing you to fall, splat on the ground.  Oh, I’m sorry, it was just a joke!  I thought it would be funny!  How was I to know you would get so upset?

Glenn, we’re so glad you had a good time.  But if you are really sorry for it all now, you should do something useful with the tens of millions of dollars you made off of the “fragility” of the decent but deluded (with your help) Americans, many of whom were Iowans, who listened to you in earnest, thinking you meant every word you said.  Yes, you owe an apology first to the people who believed you because they didn’t know enough to know you were only joking, that you were only saying all that crazy stuff for the money.

But don’t you think you also owe every single American a personal amends for the damage you did for years without a care or a thought that you were causing harm?  Shouldn’t you make up in some small way for helping to “tear the country apart,” since you did after all become filthy rich in doing so?  And had a great time to boot.  And now that the Fox party’s over, looking back, you have some minor regrets.  Although you’re still tearing the country apart in the same way, just on the radio instead of TV, so  I’m a little confused because I thought that apologies were supposed to come with a commitment to stop the offending behavior.

Glenn, since you have admitted to being a professional liar, may I say that other than the part about how much fun it was for you tearing the country apart on Fox News, I don’t believe the rest of what you said, the part about being sorry.  It rings hollow.  I believe that it was just one more outrageous thing  to say that has no more truth or honesty in it than any of the horrid, awful, despicable lies you’ve been broadcasting over the publicly owned airwaves for years on the radio.

You’re enjoying making fools of your believers with yet another, even more outrageous lie.  Admit it, Glenn, the real truth is that having a behind-the-scenes laugh at the people who take you seriously is really the “fun,” isn’t it?  Makes you feel sort of superior when, granted, how else could you get there?

I for one am not buying that there is a human being in there.  Not unless we start seeing some amends.  Is there a Professional-Liars Anonymous program in your area?  Maybe you should start one.
