This week we will weave in questions related to labor along with other news of the week questions. That way I may be able to sneak out a little early myself this weekend. Someone check the door and see if the boss is watching.
Some of these quetions may be recycled from previous years, so I am sure you will remember them easily.
1) Walmart having their employees use Medicaid in place of giving them enough hours to qualify for the company plan would be considered a type of what?
2) Thursday a specific group of workers staged one day strikes in at least 60 cities across the country. What group of workers staged these strikes?
3) The first labor Day was celebrated in what American city?
4) Any idea what year?
5) In what seems to be somewhat of a reversal, the Obama administration will be taking a more relaxed policy toward enforcement of laws for what?
6) One of the major union victories over the years was the Flint Sit Down Strike. What year did this strike take place?
7) What company was the sit down strike against?

9) In 1902 this diminutive labor leader was called “the most dangerous woman in America.” Who was this early labor leading woman who was instrumental in organizing miners?
10) Britain voted not to take action in Syria. This was the first time a prime minister had lost a war vote since 1782. Who was the enemy of the British in 1782?

15) Republican leaders (including Tim Scott) were invited to speak at the March on Washington commemoration. Yet not a one showed. Where were they?
Alright! Labor has really taken a beating since Reagan. Strong labor is really the only deterrent to overwhelming corporate power. If you haven’t been burned by the corporate power yet, you most likely will be in some fashion. We need unions to come back in some form. Keep the labor situation (large numbers being paid below poverty levels in this country) in your mind tomorrow.
