Sunday Funday: It’s Summertime! Edition

just not sure

just not sure

Looks like I am going to have to ask some real trivia questions for the next few weeks. The entertainers – er politicians – are not giving me enough material to work with these days. It is hard to care about what’s going on when it is so hot. Why is it so hot? Who knows – make it go away.

1) Republicans would like to cut way back on or end the SNAP program. What do we commonly call SNAP?

2) Some hackles were raised this week when Christian Domestic Discipline was given some publicity. In CDD who gets disciplined and how?

3) Well looky here, it’s the summer solstice! What does the word ‘solstice’ actually mean?

4) Thursday the SCOTUS issued a ruling greatly favoring major corporations from class action liability suits. In a speech last weekend, who issued a warning that the SCOTUS was in jeopardy of being a subsidiary of the Chamber of Commerce.

5) America’s newest trade agreement is so secretive that few citizens have even heard of it. What is the name of the new agreement that those on the left claim will be much, much worse than NAFTA?

6) Reporter Michael Hasings died tragically this week. His most famous story ended the career of what General in Afghanistan?

7) Oh they are so delicious! What do we call this summertime treat – a cross between a plum and a peach?

8) At a Steve King tea party anti-immigration rally Rep. Mario Diaz-Ballart was heckled for doing what?

9) Great minds think alike, by golly. What dictator handed out copies of “Mein Kampf” to his staff telling them to read it and learn from it?

10) Republicans are proposing a new “surge.” Where will this new surge take place if implemented?

11) President Obama made a speech at the Brandenberg gate last week. 50 years ago next Wednesday, who else made a famous speech from that spot?

12) Whose career may come crashing down due to admission of the use of racial slurs?

13) June 20, 1963. The world is a bit safer due to the installation of what in Moscow and Washington?

14) Protests fill the streets in the large cities concerning economic conditions in what major economic player?

15) Obamacare (aka the PPACA) is being implemented over several years. Last year, how much did consumers save in premiums over all (to the nearest billion)?

Look at that forecast – hot, hotter, hottest. And dry – all the things that make summer so – uh – special. Call me in October.

Here we go with some answers:

1) Food stamps

2) The wife in a marriage by spanking (often with a paddle).

3) “sun stands still”

4) Elizabeth Warren

5) the TPP or Trans Pacific Partnership

6) Stanley McChrystal

7) a nectarine

8) speaking spanish

9) Kim Jung Un

10) Along the US- Canada – whoops no – the US – Mexico border

11) President Kennedy of course

12) Paula Deen

13) the Red-line phones with a (near) direct connection between the world leaders in those two capitals

14) Brazil

15) $4 billion
