Last Chance For Teapublican Party Of Iowa And Other Observations

War on Middle Class Well Funded

Don’t say George W. didn’t fund at least one of his wars. Sure he didn’t fund the war in Iraq nor the War on Afghanistan. But, boy oh boy did he ever fund the war on the poor and middle class. By giving the rich tax cuts he gave them even more bucks that they could use to buy politicians, to fund organizations like ALEC and to fund ads that lie, mislead and confuse. This is money that could have been used for stuff like schools and bridges.

Joe Walsh, The Ultimate Republican

Joe Walsh should be the poster boy for the Republican Party. He stiffs his own kids on child support payments while taking lavish vacations and living in top class places. He has money to make a loan to his campaign, yet nothing for his own family. His self-absorption seems to make him damn near the ultimate Republican. His claims of no money while living high sounds like a playbook from the poor, overtaxed rich. While he screams about the nanny state at the top of his lungs, these programs more than likely keep his kids going. Pay up and shut up, Joe.

Death Penalty

What to say about Troy Davis? His life was taken in what looks like a grand miscarriage of justice. Like the invasion of Iraq, harm was done and someone had to pay. Made no difference that state revenge was taken on the misidentified perpetrators, blood must be paid with blood. Makes me think what a courageous act it was for former Illinois governor George Ryan to suspend the death penalty because of all the inherent problems with the justice system.

Media Refuses To Cover Wall Street Protests

If 2000 teabaggers were to gather anywhere the corporate media would be swarming like bees in a field of flowers on a hot day. Heck, there were times when 20 teabaggers would be covered like the next great revolution by Fox or CNN. Yet last weekend and all this week, Wall Street has been occupied by 2000+ pissed off, out of work, mostly young people and the corporate media refuses to cover anything. By not covering it, no doubt the corporate types hope it will just go away. Fortunately, more and more people are turning to DemocracyNow, Olbermann and other non-traditional sources of news and burying stories isn’t as easy as it once was.

Teapublican Party of Iowa

Whether the Dems retain the senate seat that Swati Dandekar gave up last week or not, I look for the corporate-backed Teapublican Party of Iowa to push their agenda hard, knowing this may be their last big chance. Look for a big push on changing voter eligibility laws and choking cities’ ability to tax among other ALEC wet dreams.

Election Stealing 101

With electronic voting machines still in place in most states, with laws to discourage voting by normally Democratic leaning groups in place in more states than ever, and now with a push in states to carve up electoral votes rather than vote them in a block. Looks like the Republicans are getting their steal the election plan in place.

More GOP Fun

The Rick Perry regime executed #236 the other night. By my calculation, that is about 2 a month. Almost seems like you must get the death penalty in Texas for a parking ticket.

Ron Paul’s campaign manager in 2008, Kent Snyder, contracted viral pneumonia and died just shortly after the Paul campaign ended. Snyder did not have insurance because it was too expensive due to a pre-existing condition. Had “Obamacare” been in place at that time, insurance would have been available to him at an affordable price. Snyder helped raise $35 million for Paul, including $19.5 million in the last quarter. When Snyder died, his mother was left with a $400,000 hospital bill. Don’t ask me about Ron Paul if you are looking for someone to praise him.

Where Is Corporate Media On Climate Change?

Siemens has decided to get out of the nuclear power business. A business as large as Siemen’s does not make a decision such as this lightly. In recent years businesses have been making decisions that acknowledge climate change and the need to get into renewable energies. GE is becoming a major player in renewables, as Siemen’s already is. The insurance industry is acting as an early warning system on climate change. If they do not take this risk into account, they could be wiped out. So when you hear the climate change deniers and nuclear power pushers prattle on, those whose livelihood depends on anticipating the future tell us climate change is a HUGE deal. Where is the corporate media on this?
