CLEAR LAKE — Christie Vilsack brought her campaign for Congress in the newly created 4th Congressional District to the Surf Ballroom Thursday night.

Vilsack was the featured speaker at the Eighth Annual North Iowa Democratic Wing Ding sponsored by Democrats in Cerro Gordo, Franklin, Hancock and Winnebago counties.

Vilsack, the former Iowa first lady, is a candidate in the 2012 congressional race and is expected to face U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Kiron, though both may face primary elections in June.

State Democratic Chairwoman Sue Dvorsky also spoke at the Wing Ding. State Sen. Mike Gronstal, D-Council Bluffs, received the Beacon Award for his contributions to promoting Democratic causes.

More than 200 people attended the event.
