Here are the never-before-released details about our workshops:

Dean Baker – a hard-hitting economist, founder of the Center for Economic and Policy Research, and frequent MSNBC guest will present a workshop titled “Saving and Strengthening Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid:  How Everyday People Can Beat Back the Attack on Our Retirement Security,” talking about one of the most important issues facing our country today.

Wenonah Hauter – a foodie with a fight-back attitude, is the executive director of Food & Water Watch. Her workshop, “The Corporate Assault on Our Food System:  How We Can Fight Back and Bust Up Big Ag” will address corporate concentration in agriculture, our grassroots solutions, and action we can take here in Iowa.

Mary Bottari – who runs BanksterUSA.com, has been on the ground in Madison reporting on the continuing protests to demand government puts everyday people before corporate profits.  Her workshop, “From Wisconsin to Iowa:  Building the Movement for a New Economy” will talk about the roots behind the Wisconsin protests and what it will take to build the movement here in Iowa.

David Osterberg – founder and executive director of the cutting-edge Iowa Policy Project – will present a workshop titled “A Line in the Sand:  Fighting for a Populist Budget in Iowa”, where he will challenge the assumptions that Iowa government spending is out of control, that state employees are too well paid, and that tax cuts create jobs. Iowans expect services that we can afford if we crack down on big-moneyed corporations and force them to pay their fair share of taxes.

After the workshops conclude, all four of our speakers will convene for a very special panel discussion where you can ask the speakers your questions, even if you can't make it to their workshop.

This is going to be the biggest and most exciting CCI convention in 36 years, but it won't be the same without you.

Will you join us next Saturday by registering for  CCI's “This is What Democracy Looks Like” 2011 Annual Convention today?
