Take a swim on a hot summer day?  Not in polluted rivers and lakes

By Alana Stamas, Environment Iowa

On a hot summer day, what's better than taking a swim in a nice cool lake or river? Our scenic rivers and lakes should provide relief from the heat, and fun in the sun. Unfortunately, too many of us have to stay on the shore because our rivers and lakes are too polluted to fish or swim in. But instead of cracking down on the pollution that's ruining the fun, the Bush administration has removed Clean Water Act protections for some of the source waters that feed and clean America's greatest waterways such as the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River.

Some representatives in Congress are trying to undo the damage done by the Bush administration's No Protection policy by re-instating Clean Water Act protections for all waters. Can you help us preserve our waterways for future generations by asking your representative in Congress to co-sponsor the Clean Water Restoration Act?
