ICCI To Host Presidential Forum

ICCI To Host Presidential Forum

By Adam Mason, ICCI

Iowa CCI and the Center for Community Change (CCC) will be presenting “The Heartland Presidential Forum –Real Issues, Real People” in Des Moines on December 1st. Presidential Candidates will be questioned on healthcare, living wages, clean elections, fair housing, immigration reform, and farming & the environment. We look forward to holding a bi-partisan forum, engaging all candidates on these real issues that affect real people.

The Heartland Presidential Forum on December 1st promises to be the highlight event of the caucus season. Presidential Candidates will be put on the spot to answer tough questions from real Iowans. You can help Iowa CCI, CCC, and many other Iowa organizations make the Heartland Presidential Forum a giant success with the power of the netroots. By writing, publicizing, and live-blogging the Heartland Presidential Forum, you have the power to educate thousands of caucus-goers.

And finally, we will also be touching on the work Iowa CCI and other coalition groups are doing around VOICE, the state’s publicly financed campaign bill. This will include a short meeting with Josh Zaharoff from Common Cause, who will be leading up a bird-dogging effort for the Fair Elections Now Act, the federal public financing of campaigns bill. We will keep the meeting to an hour and a half, with time during and afterwards for any questions you might have.

Iowa
Citizens for Community Improvement is everyday people who talk, act,
and get things done on issues that impact us most. Issues like having a
factory farm move in next door and devalue your property or shady
lenders that take advantage of people. With over 3700 members across Iowa
from all walks of life, we are truly an organization by the people and
for the people. We believe you don’t have to stand by and just let
things happen.
