MORE ON VOTING MACHINES

If you haven't yet, take a few minutes to read the story on the front page of the November 2 Des Moines Register about touch-screen voting in Iowa. Next Tuesday will be the first general election where touch-screen machines will be used in 77 counties. In 19 counties, they will be the only option available. A map showing the voting options in all 99 counties is available at my website,fallonforgovernor.net.

I strongly support legislation requiring all votes to be backed up by a paper trail in case of equipment malfunction or suspicion of fraud. Unfortunately, in about 1 in 5 Iowa counties, the only way to use a paper ballot is to vote absentee.
