This is a video from last year when the Iowa legislature was working on a bill to keep Bayer from being sued for illnesses caused by their farm chemicals. (1.5 minutes)
We got this email from a CCI member about a week ago. With the inauguration coming it seemed better to hold this until a little closer to the event.
If we have any hope of changing policy at the state or national level this year we must be active.
| “I first heard about CCI when I was looking for help with pesticide drift. I am staying involved because it’s up to us to Defeat Bayer’s Cancer Gag Act.
Will you join us on Feb 10 in Des Moines to help us? My family and I live outside of town, near a field. When we moved in I was assured that the field had never been sprayed and we wouldn’t be impacted. That changed suddenly one day when we were outside and a crop duster came right over our house. My husband and I quickly ran inside, the taste of chemicals in our mouth. A few days later I found out I was pregnant. No we have a young child, who we want to let play outside without fear of being exposed to harmful chemicals – but that just isn’t the case right now. This is an important issue that should be taken seriously. But this legislative session Bayer is taking us further in the wrong direction. In every state across the country, including Iowa, Bayer is working to introduce a bill that would try and silence individuals harmed by the chemicals they produce. That’s not right. That’s why I am asking you to join us in Des Moines on Feb 10 for a day of action. Will you join us? Here are some more details of what to expect: What: A Day of Action at the state capitol! We will have a rally, information to talk to legislators, and other ways to take action on this important issue. Where: 1007 E Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA 50319 When: Monday, February 10 from 1 PM – 4 PM How: RSVP here to join us and get more details. There are so many reasons to oppose this proposed legislation. Please RSVP today to join us to take action. For a better Iowa,
Maggie Valentine P.S. Please share this event with other by forwarding them this email!” |
