This is only a small sample of what lasers can do
As the world is burning it just makes sense for government and community organizations who sponsor Independence Day fireworks displays to come into the 21st century and try their hands at being creative with laser and drone displays.
There are a huge amount of advantages to doing away with the danger and the waste of fireworks displays. As Canada burns and the US chokes on the smoke the first advantage should be obvious – we wouldn’t be putting huge clouds of pollutants into the air or burning down the planet.
A second advantage is also obvious – even with trained personnel, every year workers are injured and some killed setting off fireworks displays. Why do we do this when there are safe and spectacular alternatives?
A third obvious advantage is money. With fireworks we are literally blowing up thousands and thousands of dollars for a one time thrill at a time when budgets are very tight. With lasers and drones, Once the show is over, the equipment can be packed up and reused with only a minimal expense. Maybe some communities would even drag the equipment out for a Halloween, Christmas or New Year’s show.
One other thought is that with fireworks, buyers are limited to what the firework manufacturers sell. With configurable lasers and drones, the show can be reconfigured every time it is used.
And of course if a family wants to do their own thing, why not do it with lasers and electronics rather that disturbing your neighbors with the noise and smell of fireworks? Plus with lasers you won’t accidentally burn down your neighbor’s house or start a forest fire. And it may keep you from killing yourself or your kids.
Finally there are many Americans, particularly veterans who suffer from PTSD. Using lasers and electronics the excessive noise could be eliminated. Don’t forget pets many of whom will spend the night cowering in some corner in fear.
Give it some thought.
Thank you. I watched three minutes of this laser show, and while it was not something I’d travel to see, I don’t travel to see fireworks either. And this post is right about the advantages. There’s a lot to be said for fewer deaths and injuries, less damage, less expense, less pollution, fewer accidental fires, less booming noise, etc. And also less toxic debris.
