Sorry we are a bit late in posting this. Somebody named Trump seems to be sucking all the attention these days.

June is LGBTQ Pride month. This month of celebration, visibility, and community commemorates the Stonewall Riots. On June 27, 1969, LGBTQ people (led by transgender women of color) fought back against police brutality and intimidation at the Stonewall Inn bar, igniting the LGBTQ rights movement in the United States. A year later, the first ‘gay pride’ events were held in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Iowa celebrates this month with parades in various cities around the state. This weekend there is a parade in Des Moines and a parade and other festivities in Dubuque.
