One of the most effective ways to stop Donald Trump, his regime, and the agenda of greed and hate that he stands for is to elect progressives from every corner of the country to office up and down the ballot.
Democracy for America is committed to identify, recruit, train, staff, and elect the next generation of leaders who are ready to fight for racial and economic justice. Today, back by popular demand, we’re relaunching DFA Night School.
Night School is our online campaign skills instruction, where some of the savviest campaigners in the movement lead you through virtual trainings on field strategy, volunteer recruitment, coalition-building and power mapping, paid/earned media and messaging, finance planning, grassroots fundraising, and more.
We aren’t going to take this country back by relying on old ideas, the same consultants, corporate money, or failed strategies. You have the power to change America and give power back to the people by running for office — or by volunteering on a campaign.
DFA is bringing back our popular and effective Night School trainings to help progressives like you learn how to build winning, people-powered campaigns. Our first Night School of 2017 will take place on Thursday, March 9, at 8pm Eastern / 5pm Pacific, and will focus on what to consider when weighing a run for office.
Can you join DFA and progressives from around the country for this special online training next week?
The resistance we’ve seen in the streets, at town halls, at airports, and in communities across the country is just the beginning. Trump has reminded everyone just how important it is that progressives hold elected office, whether it’s Congress, state legislature, or your own city council.
Republicans and the Koch brothers spend millions of dollars every year to train and elect extremists and bigots in elections up and down the ballot. DFA was founded to fight back, and since 2004, we’ve trained and elected more than 900 progressives.
This first Night School training will focus first on what to consider as you or someone you support weighs a run for office — what to questions to ask about the candidate, the district, and the community. Then, we’ll dig in to the steps to need to take once you (or the candidate) have made the decision to throw the hat in the ring to make sure the campaign launch is as powerful as possible.
Our trainings have helped build a pipeline of candidates. One of them is Michael Tubbs, who DFA trained as a volunteer on a winning Congressional campaign in 2006. Tubbs was elected to the Stockton City Council in 2012 — and last year was elected Stockton’s youngest mayor, supported by a team of DFA-trained campaign staff. Across the country there are numerous similar stories of progressives using DFA’s training to expand the electorate, build progressive power, and win.
Our Black, Brown, immigrant, and Muslim brothers and sisters cannot wait another four years. It’s more urgent than ever that we come together to train the resistance to fight back and win right now. That’s why we’re bringing back Night School, starting with our March 9 online training on the steps needed to prepare for a campaign. Can you join us?
Thanks for signing up — I can’t wait to meet with you next Thursday night!
