I wanted to make sure you saw the email Gano sent.
After we published our ‘top 10’ viral list of 2013 (including her picture), Gano made a donation and asked to help by sending this note to you.
That’s been the story of Progress Iowa — we’re thriving because of people who want to take action and improve their communities.
People like Gano, and you, are standing up every day for middle and working class families. And we’re honored to stand with you in the fight for a more progressive country.
If you haven’t already, please consider making an end of year donation to keep the fight going. Even chipping in $3 will make a difference.
Thanks for all you’ve done, and for all you will do in 2014 and beyond!
Happy New Year,
Matt Sinovic

Subject: my picture went viral
My picture went viral this year. You might have seen it
In the spring of 2013, Governor Branstad didn’t support expanding access to health care for the poorest Iowans. For more than a year, he didn’t even offer a plan.
Then something remarkable happened. Iowans stood up for their fellow citizens, and the Governor was forced to change his position. Working across the state, Progress Iowa organized rallies, petitions, and coordinated support from dozens of organizations. Their work made it possible to hold events like the one where my picture went viral, reaching tens of thousands of Iowans.
We rallied. We called. We spoke out. Together we made it happen and Medicaid expansion passed.
Your support will mean more rallies, more petitions, and more progressive progress. It will also mean more pictures like mine going viral. Next year it could be yours!
Happy new year,
Gano Whetstone
