Loebsack Honors Medicare

As many of you may know, my family struggled to get by when I was growing up, and my grandmother often relied on Social Security survivors benefits to put food on the table. I know personally how important initiatives like Medicare and Medicaid are to seniors and working families.

That is why I was proud to speak on the House floor to celebrate the 48th Anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid.

Remembering what it was like to sit around the table and wonder how to pay the bills each month, I firmly believe that no seniors should face the choice between feeding their family and affording vital health care services and medications.

We must keep the promise of health and economic security that we have made to our seniors after a lifetime of hard work and paying into Medicare. That’s why I will always fight to protect Medicare and Medicaid.

You can view the speech I delivered here.

Sincerely,

Dave Loebsack
