Sunday Funday: A Canadian High Drifts In

just not sure

just not sure

Just as we were about to announce our new address on the outskirts of Hell, we seemed to have been moved again. Now we are in a place that seems to be having an early fall. A cool Canadian high pressure area has cooled us down. To my friends in Canada, thank you. We appreciate them in the summer. Now, you have sent them in the past in January and February. Those we don’t like.

Well lots of stuff happened again last week. A certain person badly embarrassed their state again. You know who.

1) Nate Silver, election predictor extraordinaire, announced he would be going to work for who?

2) In an early poll, Wyoming residents overwhelmingly agreed that Liz Cheney would be a great senator for who?

3) Who has calves the size of cantaloupes?

4) Name the 3 men currently declared as Democratic candidates for governor for Iowa.

5) “July 26th, 1948 was the start of the civil rights movement” Al Sharpton declared on his show Friday night. Why this date?

6) Which national monument was vandalized early Friday morning?

7) Now that the Voting Rights Act has been gutted by the Supreme Court, Republican led states have been rushing to restrict voting by groups which tend to vote for Democrats. Which state this week took the lead with the most restrictive voting law this week?

8) David Corn of Mother Jones once more got a great scoop on the Republicans. He exposed a group that is trying to steer the talking points for Republicans. What is the name of the group?

9) The spouse of a Supreme Court Justice is a member of this group. This used to be a major breach of ethics, but that seems to be little concern to this couple. Can you name them?

10) Holy Cow! Mitch McConnell is going to be primaried by a tea partier in Kentucky. Can you name this challenger to McConnell?

11) While Anthony Weiner continues to wallow in sexless sex scandals, this mayor of a California city has so far been thwarted in his attempt to have an affair with just about anything that moves. Name the mayor and his city, please.

12) Where the heck is Edward Snowden?

13) Friday Maryland unveiled premiums for the implementation of this policy and they were about the lowest yet. What policy is Maryland and other states gearing up for?

14) What former MSNBC reporter has reportedly signed a deal with the new Al Jazeera network in the US?

15) Rumor has it that this former Harvard president, Treasury Secretary and White House advisor is on the short list to replace Ben Bernanke as the Head of the Fed. Rumor also has it that senate Democrats are nearly totally opposed. Who is this guy?

16) Fleeting Fame question. Can you remember who Sarah Slamen is?

Record low last night. Crawling under covers to stay warm! How about some nice warm answers to start the day?

1) Silver will be working at ESPN (he is a baseball stat nut) Rumor has it that Olbermann will sign up for a hitch also.

2) Virginia, where her real residence is.

3) Steve King claims that 130 pound mexican dreamers who act as drug mules have such attributes. Even John Boehner couldn’t stomach this one.

4) Bob Krause, Tyler Olson and Jack Hatch

5) On that date President Truman signed the document integrating the Armed Forces

6) The Lincoln Monument

7) North Carolina

8) Groundswell

14) David Shuster.

15) Lawrence Summers.

16) The young woman whho started shouting at the Texas legislative committee as they drug her out a couple weeks ago.

How about some old pics from the 1970s? Here is a website that has thousands of pics taken as part of the Documerica Project in the 70s. Enjoy
