Oops – Steve King Accidentally Speaks The Truth

just curious

just curious

Every now and then some Republican loses their talking points and without those to guide them they accidentally tell the truth. Such a horrible misfortune befell our own Steve King this week. He was discussing immigration and he slipped and let the real reason Republicans oppose reform escape from his mouth. Of course, this will hardly hurt him in his district, but maybe it will lay out there and fester only to pop up in some close districts in the future. Here is King:

“It would hurt Republicans, and I don’t think you can make an argument otherwise,” King said. “Two out of every three of the new citizens would be Democrats.” Some might dismiss this as the rantings of a bombastic right-winger — but his take is mainstream theology among House Republicans.

Robert Reich on Facebook:
“Suppose a small group of extremely wealthy people sought to systematically destroy the U.S. government by (1) finding and bankrolling new candidates pledged to shrinking and dismembering it; (2) intimidating or bribing many current senators and representatives to block all proposed legislation, prevent the appointment of presidential nominees, eliminate funds to implement and enforce laws, and threaten to default on the nation’s debt; (3) taking over state governments in order to redistrict, gerrymander, require voter IDs, purge voter rolls, and otherwise suppress the votes of the majority in federal elections; (4) running a vast PR campaign designed to convince the American public of certain big lies, such as climate change isn’t occurring, and (5) buying up the media so the public cannot know the truth. Would you call this treason?”

The IRS “Scandal” – Now We Know Why
Remember Republicans seldom do anything that doesn’t in some way advance their cause. So if you recall this spring when they were killing themselves to get the so-called IRS scandal to get legs a person had to wonder why are they pushing it so hard. Pushed it to the point that they became once more a laughing stock. And many, especially Darrel Issa, are not ready to give up yet.

Why? Well, the idea is to destroy the credibility of the IRS. Then, when the IRS is used as an information point to determine how much if any subsidy a family will get based on their income, the Republicans will claim the IRS is not credible therefore they should have no role in implementing the ACA(Obamacare) thus greatly hampering start up. Republican logic. It is mind blowing sometimes.

13 Mind Blowing Facts on Corporate Taxes

I will list a couple of abbreviated reasons here. I strongly recommend you click the link and read the whole story. It will get your blood pumping.

1) We’re told we can’t “afford” full Social Security benefits, even though closing corporate tax-haven loopholes would pay for Obama’s “chained CPI” benefit cut more than ten times over!

2) Corporate tax rates are near their 60-year low, even though profits are at a 60-year high!

Welcome Into The Race, Tyler Olson.
I get kind of excited when I see a young person who seems to have a great handle on the issues while at the same time shows a maturity for their age. Such are rare individuals. I see such a person in Tyler Olson. When he jumped in the race Wednesday he brought some pretty hefty endorsers with him. I personally do not know him, but have friends who do. They think the world of him and his ability. I have no doubt he could be a great governor. The real question is whether or not he (or anybody) can beat the unbeatable Branstad. Right now I could easily live with any of the Democratic candidates. But Olson may have the most to give on the campaign trail.

Remember: Iowa Currently One Vote From Being Wisconsin.
If you think that Branstad is a nice grand-fatherly governor truly concerned about Iowa’s citizens you have been sleeping. He is a founding member of ALEC and shares the vision of other governors such as Scott Walker, Jiohn Kasich (Ohio), Rick Snyder (Michigan) and Rick Scott (Florida). What has kept Branstad in check is one democratic vote in the senate. We need to widen that margin in 2014 and take the House also. Don’t you dre sit out the next election.

Fracking Causing Earthquakes?
Heard on NPR, then saw it online. Studies are showing that the waste water injection used in the fracking process may be responsible for earthquakes far from the spot of the injection.

So potentially add destroying the earth’s crust to the problems caused (as a side effect) from fossil fuels. The air, the water, the weather, now the ground?
