The premise was that the right wing will either create disasters or use natural disasters to make changes to their favor in public policy. Fork on the Left, Knife in the Back
George W. picked a great time to resurface in the news. Just in time for election even having W’s name out there reminds Americans just what it was like to have a Republican as president. Especially in the wake of a disaster. And then just to rub a little salt in the wound, it turns out W is making an appearance in the Cayman Islands, most noted for currently for being one of the tax avoiding havens for Mitt Romney’s money. Thanks for the help W!

Matt Schultz: Keep the Sunshine Out!
Iowa’s Secretary of State in Training Matt Schultz once again grabs the wrong side of an issue by refusing to let international observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) – a United Nations sanctioned group – observe Iowa elections. Heck he even threatened to have them thrown in jail. Haven’t heard if he has given the same treatment to the tea bag group “True The Vote.” They have claimed they will have “observers” in every poling place in America to watch out for those they believe to be “illegal” voters.

Richard Nixon: Your Party Needs You!
As one of those who came of age under Richard Nixon’s presidency, I can honestly say I never thought there would ever be a more duplicitous, lying, scummy person running for presidency again. As it were, Nixon was the gold standard of crappy politicians. However, Mitt Romney makes Nixon look like a choirboy. The lies about Jeep moving to China and the theft of $716B from Medicare are literally in a class by themselves. Funny thing is Nixon did have a small cultural liberal streak, so I doubt even the scurrilous Nixon would be welcome in today’s tea bagging Republican Party.

One Last Time Let Me Say:
We went to see VP Biden in Muscatine Thursday. As he worked the rope line, I got in for a handshake. I think I really caught his attention when I said “for my daughters, for your granddaughters, you’ve got to win this.” He looked at me kind of surprised and said “Yes, yes. That is it!”
There should be no reason women should be treated as second class citizensin this country. There is no reason that women should not be able to have access to legal medical procedures done safely in the United States just like men.

President Obama needs a Democratic (and sane) congress. Please be sure to vote for the Democratic choice for US representative in your district. That is Loebsack, Braley, Boswell or that newcomer, Christie Vilsack. And don’t forget, on the state level Iowa is currently one vote in the senate from being Wisconsin. Be sure to vote for Democrats for state offices. You will feel better on Wednesday morning.
