DAVENPORT, IOWA – In advance of Mitt Romney’s event on Monday, Progress Iowa will hold a press conference to call on Mitt Romney to stand up for the middle class, specifically Iowa’s teachers, firefighters and police officers. Speaking at the press conference will be an area Educator, Firefighter, and Nun, in addition to representatives of Progress Iowa, Progressive Action for the Common Good, and Iowa Alliance for Retired Americans.
During his last visit to Iowa, Mitt Romney showed his true colors: attacking middle class Iowa, targeting our neighbors, teachers, firefighters, and police officers. While in Council Bluffs, Romney claimed that the lesson of Wisconsin was that we don’t need more teachers, firefighters, or police officers. His comments should come as no surprise, given his track record. While he was Governor, Mitt Romney raised middle class taxes in favor of tax breaks for millionaires, leaving Massachusetts ranked number one in debt, and number forty seven in job growth. Mitt Romney should stand up for Iowa’s middle class, for our neighbors, our teachers, firefighters and police officers.
