Michael Moore: Occupy Wall Street Is All Of Our Voices

New York City does not allow use of amplification so the Occupy Wall Street movement is relying on  the human microphone for speeches and communication.  The crowd repeats the words of the speaker so everyone can hear.  The unintended consequence of this is very concise messaging, easily broken down into media friendly talking points.  But it also creates a sense of unity and strength through the raising of voices.  It’s a beautiful thing.  Here’s Michael Moore’s speech last night. You can experience it by reading or just watch the video posted below.

This is an historic day

This movement has come together

Because the people wanted it to happen

Not because of a leader

Not because of a dues paying organization

But because the people wanted it

I love the human microphone (cheers)

And I’ll tell you why

Because this isn’t just my voice

Or his voice

Or her voice

It’s All Of Our voices

Let’s keep the movement like this

Do not let politicians co-opt this movement

Each one of you here today

Represents another hundred thousand

Americans who couldn’t be here today

But are happy that you are here

And they will be there in their cities

The occupied movement

Is everywhere.

Occupy

Everywhere!

The men

On the top floors of these buildings

Especially you Goldman Sachs

They are responsible for ruining the lives

Of millions of people

Hundreds of millions of people

On this planet

Someone in the media just asked me

Who organized this

I said

THEY organized this!

(cheering)

THEY

Took their boot

And put it on the neck

Of the American people

And now the American people

Want that boot removed

NOW

Not next year

Now

Wev’e had it

Enough!

Is Enough!

The dirtiest word in corporate America

Is Enough

They can’t get enough

They weren’t satisfied

With being just filthy rich

They wanted to be something better than filthy rich

And this is what they got

They may have stolen trillions of dollars

But we are here to say

We want that money back

THEY

Have overplayed their hand

It’s too bad they weren’t satisfied

With all the billions theyve accumulated

But like addicts

THEY had to have more

THEY’re out of control

THEY have an addiction problem

To greed

And we are here

To conduct an intervention!
