Dear Friends,

Well, I guess this is it, folks. I have it from an excellent authority that the world will end this Saturday. (Well, actually, the same dude predicted the end of the world in 1994, too, but I'm going to cut him some slack since even the weatherman is wrong some . . . um, most . . . of the time.) It's been a nice ride, and I hope you'll tune in to the Fallon Forum's final broadcast this Thursday as Allyne Smith and I compare notes on our expectations for what comes next. Me, I'm hoping for rapture but bringing the ingredients for some-mores just in case.

Wednesday, Dean Lerner and I analyze the disturbing trends brought to light recently in Clark Kauffman's expose on hospice care. Not only are hospice providers inspected just once every twenty years, but for-profit facilities are rapidly coming to dominate the “industry.”

Tuesday, Ursula Ruedenberg joins us to talk about the growing movement of local residents reclaiming the public airwaves. In Ames, KHOI 89.1 FM has been airing programs on-line and plans to soon broadcast on the dial.

Monday, Charles Goldman and I ponder a reflection Charles offered after reading this New York Times article. Charles writes, “Think your nuclear plant is safe just because it isn't on a fault line or along the Pacific Rim of Fire? Think again. Nuclear plants as close as Omaha have received citations for serious breakdowns in the last few years. Nuclear energy is a nightmare; it almost makes coal look like a good option. Is there a viable alternative to its expansion?”

Please take a minute to visit the Fallon Forum website,
make a donation and help support local, progressive talk radio. We're
entirely funded by local individuals, businesses and organizations!

Thanks!
Ed Fallon
