“Even in its terribly weakened condition, the labor movement remains a bulwark against the kind of corporate tyranny that would swiftly make serfs of the rest of us.” – 2011/02/23 – Joe Conason: Yes, America Still Needs Unions

Since when is it a crime for working people to make a decent living in America?

If they are successful in breaking unions, it will affect everyone.  Once the unions are gone, like American jobs that are shipped overseas, they are not coming back. Now is our chance to save the last line of defense the middle class has against complete takeover by corporatists.

Everyone knows this fight is not about budgets.  Unions in Wisconsin have already conceded cuts in wages and benefits, including health care.  This is about worker rights to collectively bargain. Right wing forces in this country want us to go back to the days of robber barons and the company store.  Now is our chance to stop them.

“We will rally on the capitol steps to express our outrage over the assault on the middle class and show our solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Wisconsin.  There will be rallies in front of every statehouse and in every major city to stand in solidarity with the people of Wisconsin. We demand an end to the attacks on worker's rights and public services across the country.  We demand that the rich and powerful pay their fair share.”  LINK
