Anti-worker legislation has been introduced in our own State of Iowa. House Study Bill 117 would make it illegal for public workers to strike or call in sick en masse. And with so many Iowans without access to health care coverage, Governor Branstad recently said that the state shouldn’t have to negotiate health care benefits with its workers.

There are 5 states that do not have collective bargaining for teachers. Here is where they ranked in 2010 in regards to SAT/ACT scores:

Virginia 44th
Texas 47th
Georgia 48th
North Carolina 49th
South Carolina 50th
Wisconsin Ranked 2nd in 2010

HS Grad rates:

Wisconsin 82%.

For states outlawing collective bargaining for teachers-

VA 69%
SC 66%
TX 65%
NC 63%
GA 56%
