Iowa GOP Want To Lead State Backwards
We received this note from OneIowa yesterday, and it prompted us to donate. Please help with a contribution if you can.
When the new House Majority Leader Kraig Paulsen was asked what he hopes to achieves this session, he said, “When we walk out… I believe we'll have passed a resolution to let Iowans vote on the definition of marriage.”
Kent Sorenson told anti-gay radio host Steve Deace that his plan for the session is to be a thorn in the side of Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal, who stands up for equality again and again.
Sorenson believes his constituents elected him to “burn this place down. They want me to do battle.”
We can't afford to become complacent with legislators like these. Help protect our fair-minded elected-officials by donating to One Iowa today.
This legislative session represents the fight of our lives. All over the country, anti-equality forces are trying to roll back the freedom to marry, and no where is that more true than here in Iowa. We are the bastion of freedom and equality in the Midwest, and we are being hammered by extremist money and rhetoric from all sides.
Our staff is working hard to reach out to every corner of Iowa, supporting our legislators, telling our stories and educating people about the very positive effect gay and lesbian families have in their communities. But we need your help to continue this important and necessary work.
Help protect the freedom to marry in Iowa. Donate today.
