Armistice Day Observance
by Ed Flaherty
11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month
11:AM on November 11th, in front of Old Capitol on the Clinton St. Sidewalk in Iowa City
Bells will ring to remind us of our Desire to hold to a peaceful future and away from WAR
Whereas, too often rhetoric and patriotic symbols are used instead of genuine
Compensation for the extraordinary sacrifices and services of military personnel, and
Whereas 90% of victims of wars are now civilians and by honoring only Veterans, the public is distracted from the awful price paid by those other than military members,
STAND WITH US FOR HALF AN HOUR TO HONOR
AND REMEMBER ALL, VETERANS AND CIVILIANS, WHO HAVE BEEN VICTIMS OF WAR
Organized by Veterans for Peace Iowa Chapter #161,
Co-sponsored by Physicians for Social Responsibility, NEA Peace & Justice Caucus, and PEACE Iowa
