Iowa Veteran Says Let's Invest in Peace September 18 in Dubuque

Iowa Peace Initiative Conference (IPIC)
Saturday, September 18th, Dubuque, Iowa
10am – 5pm
 
Over twenty peace & justice groups in Iowa and the region are partnering in this conference, aimed at injecting cooperation, enthusiasm, and substantive action into our quests for peace.

We will begin with presentations by three national leaders who will provide inspiration and ideas for the work of the day:

Jeff Patterson, President, Board of Directors, Physicians for Social Responsibility

Mike Ferner, President of Veterans for Peace;

Nancy Porter, Chair, National Education Association Peace & Justice Caucus.

The conference begins 10 AM, ends 5PM (there will be an opportunity to march to the Mississippi River with banners after 5PM).

Conference is free. Location – St.Joseph Science Hall, Loras College, Dubuque, IA.

This conference piggybacks on another major event, Dubuque Day of Peace held the following day, Sunday September 19, so some people may wish to stay in Dubuque overnight.

Iowa City area groups PEACE Iowa, Veterans for Peace Iowa Chapter, Iowa United Nations Association, and Physicians for Social Responsibility, are involved in organizing this event and coordinating rides from the Iowa City area.
