Congressman Loebsack Gets Commitment From Pelosi For Cedar Rapids Flood Protection

Congressman Loebsack is up for re-election this year and is being opposed by a Republican who, by her own advertising, is “pro-gun.”  (I noticed in a snail-mail flyer she sent around that it indeed says “pro-gun” rather than “pro-gun rights.”  Subtle but meaningful difference, IMHO.

Anyway, we wanted to share this article because it is just one example of the great job Congressman Dave Loebsack is doing, looking out for the people of the Second District.

CEDAR RAPIDS — Congressman Dave Loebsack, D-Mount Vernon, reports that Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has agreed to support his push for a flood-protection system in Cedar Rapids that protects both sides of the Cedar River through the city.

“I am thankful that I have been able to secure a commitment from Speaker Pelosi to help move forward a flood-protection plan that will protect our families, businesses and homes,” Loebsack said in a statement late Thursday evening.

His office released the statement in the midst of House votes on appropriations to fund recoveries from recent natural disasters, including the 2008 flood in Iowa.
