Dear Friends,
Allyne Smith fills in for us on Monday. Allyne’s a theologian, a policy wonk, and served as policy director when Ed ran for Congress. He’ll talk about how in politics today, when the Christian religion is mentioned, it is usually in the context of fundamentalist, right-wing positions on every topic imaginable. Allyne will look at tea party libertarianism, the Texas textbook massacre and other recent examples where politics and religion intersect. On Tuesday, Dr. Charles Goldman joins us to discuss medical marijuana. This should be a good follow-up conversation to last week’s show about the Drug War, which according to a recent study is a 40-year, $1 trillion debacle.
Wednesday, George Eichhorn joins us to discuss his candidacy for Secretary of State. We’re supporting Democratic incumbent Michael Mauro, but certainly don’t mind hearing what George has to say.
Thursday, we’ll scope out the upcoming Democratic and Republican primaries coming up on June 8th. Lots to talk about there.
