U.S. Democratic congressional candidate Matt Campbell recently was honored to receive the endorsement from the Iowa Federation of Labor to be the next U.S. Congressman from Iowa’s 5th District.

The Iowa Federation of Labor is a coalition of 500 local unions representing over 55,000 of Iowa’s working men and women. Members of Iowa’s Federation of Labor came together to debate and vote on the endorsement on Saturday April 17 at their pre-primary Committee on Political Education (COPE) Convention.

After careful evaluation of candidates based on questionnaires, interviews and interactions, Jan Laue, Secretary Treasurer of the federation said members felt Matt Campbell was the best candidate to represent workers on the issues facing Iowa’s working families.

“Based on our evaluation we felt that he was the best candidate to represent workers in the 5th District and represent our members on the issues. Those who knew him or had met him spoke on his behalf and felt that he was the right candidate,” Ms. Laue said.

Matt Campbell, challenging incumbent Steve King,  was honored to receive the endorsement, recognizing the importance of Iowa’s working families to the 5th District.

“I entered this year's U.S. Congressional race because I believe Iowans deserve better. We deserve not only effective leadership, but leadership that reflects the decency and common sense that Iowans are known for throughout America.”
