Greenwald Campaign Update
By Erin Seidler
It?s been a few weeks, and we wanted to send you some updates from the
Becky Greenwald for Congress campaign. We have some great news to
share, and we want to keep our friends in the netroots updated.
Becky spoke today at the Des Moines Register?s political soapbox at the
Iowa State Fair, a right of passage for any political candidate. She
pointed out that her opponent blames Congress for our country?s
economic problems. He has been in Congress for 14 years, with the
Republicans in the majority for 12, so why doesn?t he share any of the
blame?

This week, we announced that General Wesley Clark has endorsed Becky?s
run for Congress. Clark said he is confident Becky will be a voice for
our nation?s veterans in Congress. Her opponent has cut millions to
Veterans programs in order to fund tax cuts to the wealthy.

General Clark knows that Becky Greenwald will fight to bring our troops home from Iraq safely and soon. Becky is so committed in fact that she has signed the Responsible Plan for Iraq.
Signed by candidates and military leaders, the plan lays out a cohesive
plan using military, diplomatic and economic resources to responsibly
end the war in Iraq.
Yesterday, the Des Moines Register ran an article about the ?seismic?
shift in Democratic registration in Iowa this election cycle. The
?dramatic resurgence? is Democratic registration can be felt here in
the 4th District that now has more registered Democrats for the first
time since redistricting in 2002.

We also challenged Tom Latham to a series of debates during the month
of August, while he is back from DC for the summer recess. Latham
has refused to debate Becky over the recess, even after a debate was
arranged at an event Latham is attending. This is disappointing. With
the serious issues facing our country, Iowans deserve to hear from both
candidates.
