Former Blog for Iowa Editor Publishes Children’s Book

by Linda Thieman

Since I passed Blog
for Iowa on to Sam a year and a half ago, I have been putting a lot of
time and energy into my new children’s book series, Katie &
Kimble
.  I have just published the first book of the series, Katie
& Kimble: A Ghost Story
(Reading Level 3 for ages 7-10).

This is something a bit different.  The story is not fear-based
like many ghost stories.  I’ve also created a blog that provides a
lot of free activities for kids (of course I have!) We’ve piloted Katie
& Kimble: A Ghost Story
in two classrooms, one third grade and one
fourth grade, and met with a great reception.  (Read children’s
comments here.
)

We also received wonderful comments from the 2007 Writer’s Digest Book Awards.

“I thoroughly enjoyed this story.  Nonstop action!  It has
all the elements that will keep this notoriously short-attentioned
audience enraptured: a ghost, mysteries, secrets, danger, friendship,
religious intrigue.  This is a story for the ages, with everything
it needs to stay interesting from beginning to end.”

Click on the name of the book above to get a copy.  If any third
or fourth grade teachers would like a “read aloud” copy to share with your class,
write me here and I’ll send one along to you (until I run out!).

Have a wonderful holiday season and don’t forget to caucus!  That’s about as political as I get these days!
