School Board Elections Today (DISCLAIMER: I AM A WRITE-IN CANDIDATE FOR SCHOOL BOARD IN IOWA CITY)

By Sam Garchik, Blog for Iowa,

Many of
you may know I am running for school board, which is why I have a
disclaimer in the heading. I wanted to post today to provide some links
to find out about the local issues in your areas.

The Register has good coverage of Central Iowa elections.

The JC Dems sent this out:

Don't forget to vote in your school board elections today.

Polls
open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Iowa City, Clear Creek Amana, Lone Tree, and
Solon districts.  Johnson County conducts the elections for these four
districts.

Some
Johnson County voters are in school districts primarily located in
another county.  The 2006 hours for these districts are:

* College, Lisbon, Mt. Vernon: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

* Highland, Mid-Prairie, West Branch, West Liberty, Williamsburg: noon to 8 p.m.

Your
polling place may be different than your general election location. To
find your polling place, look on your voter registration card, call the
Johnson County Auditor at (319) 356-6086 or log on to:
http://www.johnson-county.com/auditor/lst_precinctPublicEntry.cfm

And finally to Western Iowa, and Council Bluffs (I couldn't find anything  in Sioux City, sorry.).

So remember to vote, wherever you are in Iowa, for progressive candidates who care about our children's future.
