Pay special attention to the two events at the bottom: rally at the statehouse on Friday!

Dear Friends,

It’s About Issues!  Developing a statewide movement to return political power to the people is, more than anything, about helping Iowans address issues in their local communities.  Even as the Fallon for Governor team works to redefine the organizational structure necessary to continue our work, issue advocacy remains a central part of our mission.

Since the primary election on June 6, my staff and I have advised people who’ve contacted our office on a range of important issues.  In addition to a lot of effort on eminent domain, we’ve worked with Iowans on the following:

·        Proposed hog confinements in Dickinson and Hancock counties;
·        Concerns about MidAmerican Energy’s power lines in Dallas County;
·        Ongoing difficulties working with the Department of Corrections regarding prison visitation;
·        A proposed power plant in Waterloo;
·        Ongoing inquiries into both the Iowa Values Fund and CIETC;
·        Funding for a continuum of care for adopted children; and
·        Research on genetically modified organisms.

Beyond this, I’ve continued to help and advise many others who are running for public office – or who are considering it – and have delivered 11 public speeches in five counties.

Tomorrow and Friday are big days, culminating in a SPECIAL SESSION ON EMINENT DOMAIN.  Here are a few key events and you’re welcome to participate.

·        Ed’s appearance on Jan Mickelson’s talk show, WHO Radio – 1040 AM, Thursday, July 13, 10:05 a.m. to discuss eminent domain and the upcoming session.  Call-in!
·        Rally to support the eminent domain bill, Iowa State Capitol, Friday, July 14.  Come join us!
·        Special session in the Iowa House and Senate.  Make your presence known in either balcony at the Statehouse.  Bring a lunch.

And thanks for all you do for justice and democracy!
