Grand View Student Christina Butts Recognized as “Intern of the Year” at Iowa Statehouse

Congratulations, Christina!

Grand
View student Christina Butts has been recognized as the “Intern of the
Year” by the Democratic members of the Iowa Senate.  Butts
volunteered at the Iowa Statehouse this spring during the legislative
session.  She worked for the Iowa Senate Democratic Research
Staff, a group of policy analysts who assist the Democratic members of
the Iowa Senate.

“Chris
was our on-call photographer as well as helping organize local
listening posts,” said Senate Democratic Leader Mike Gronstal.
“She also updated our web site and helped manage our email.  Chris
was a great member of our team.”

“It was
a great experience working with Democratic Senators from across the
state,” said Butts.  “It was a high pressure situation but
everyone was working on the same team, trying to make Iowa the best
state it can be.  I’d encourage everyone interested in government
to consider an internship at the statehouse.”

Butts studies political science at Grand View College.  She is a native of Des Moines.

College
and high school students interested in interning with the Senate
Democratic Research Staff during next year’s session or during the
summer and fall are encouraged to visit www.iowasenatedemocrats.org for more information.
