A Thank You To Our Candidates

A Thank You To Our Candidates

Blog for Iowa and Democracy for Iowa
would like to issue a heartfelt thank you to all of our
candidates.  We thank you for putting yourselves out there in
spite of the fact that you knew it meant you'd get slimed by the Rove
machine.  We thank you for giving the progressive movement a face and a
voice.  And we thank you for all your countless hours of hard work.

We'd
also like to thank all of the staff members, the activists, and the
volunteers who worked so hard to try to rescue this state and this
country from the clutches of the destructive GOP.

This is only the beginning.

I've
placed a new link on the top right sidebar of Blog for Iowa.  This
page will show you the results of the elections for the candidates that
DFIA endorsed.  Or, you can click here to view the results.

We would like to congratulate Ms. Molly Regan, Mr. Jeff Danielson, Mr. Frank Wood, Rep. Ed Fallon, and Rep. Cindy Winckler.

“We are the ones we have been waiting for.”

    Linda,
The icon you chose just says it all about your commitment to democracy and to a good and safe world.
Thank your for it, and for all your hard work on this blog. You have done an amazing job, and I really appreciate every drop of blood and sweat you put into it!

Lind'r….If not for you, none of us would've been able to stay as connected as we have….You have a special place in our hearts…I am in particularlly grateful for you having created an area on the blog for information and pictures about my Scott county Soil & Water Conservation Commisson campaign….To my steering committee: Alta, Chuck, Cliff, Carolyn, Joe, Lou, Betty, Cal, Monica, Paul, Terry and many others who helped with yardsigns & creating helpful items, I bow to you…. Ryan Howell suggested to me last December 2003 that I should do this, and GOVERNOR HOWARD DEAN had just told me that cold wintery evening at North High School in Davenport that I “HAD THE POWER”….To you both, I am monumentally grateful…..Now the next step,,we go to Meetup tonight to listen to GOVERNOR DEAN….We will be putting our next stratgedy in place for DFI/DFA….One thing we will discuss is hosting a Thursday January 20th (Inauguration Day) get together…It will be not to celebrate the swearing of b, but to hold a counter-celebration for TRUTH & DEMOCRACY….I suggest many of you do the same….This is not over…M

Today has truly been a tough one. The tunnel is going to be longer than we thought but we will see the light. It took the Republicans 30 years to take over our country, we commenced our campaign for the soul of America during this election and must continue. I look forward to collabortaing with all you change agents. Onward and upward!

THANK YOU! Thanks to everyone who is a part of DFIA. And special thanks to Alta who strongly encouraged me to make a run for county auditor. The final outcome wasn't as close as I had hoped it would be but I hope that the issues I brought to light will be dealt with in the auditor's office. I did enjoy going out and meeting people from all over the county and it was a great experience.
I've already had people call me and ask me to run for county supervisor in two years. I'm not sure if that is something I would like to do or not. For now I'm trying to wind down and enjoy my family.
Just continue to remember: WE do have the POWER! This year was only the beginning…….
    Take care and God Bless!

We have to be persistent in our efforts to take back the country and our party. And, we have many who have made heroic efforts out front, as candidates, and behind the scenes. Of course, Linda has a special place in all of our hearts. But there is also Alta, Darrel, Molly, Dick, and the other steering committee members. I will be forever grateful to Trish Nelson and Ellen Ballas for their work on Rapid Response.
This sounds like a eulogy — but it's not. I just want to recognize those who played a crucial role in the last phase of our fight. We had a good number of people at our Meetup last night, and we are ready to take on the next challenges. I am very grateful for the people I have met in DFIa and around the country who share my values. I am proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with all of you!
