Iowans Voting by Absentee Ballot in Record Numbers
by Linda Thieman
According to Iowa Secretary of State Chet Culver, Iowans are voting by absentee ballot in record numbers.
Through
last Tuesday, Culver's office showed 314,600 Iowa voters had requested
absentee ballots. That number is more than 36,000 higher than the
number of absentee ballots cast in that fiasco known as the 2000
presidential selection.
In 2000,
21% of the votes in Iowa were cast via absentee ballot. And to
think, I went out early on a cold, snowy morning to wait in a long line
to vote. Not this year! I've already turned in my absentee
ballot, and I am proud to say that I connected my arrow for Art Small and Joyce Schulte. Oh, yeah, and Kerry, too.
