Rep. Jim Nussle and Democratic challenger Bill Gluba traded sharp
attacks Friday on jobs, trade and the federal deficit during a rare
joint appearance.
“We've
lost a million jobs under this administration,” Gluba, 62, a Davenport
real estate agent and former state legislator, said to Nussle. “We've
lost 1.6 million manufacturing jobs. Where have you been for the last
12 years? Since you've been in Congress, we've consistently lost jobs.”
…Gluba
delivered one of his sharpest attacks on the handling of the federal
budget. “He's helped create the biggest budget mess,” Gluba said of
Nussle, who is chairman of the U.S. House Budget Committee.
The
candidates for U.S. House District 1 appeared together on “Iowa Press,”
to be shown at noon Sunday (tomorrow) on Iowa Public Television.
