Iowa City: Volunteers Needed for Shopping for Homeless Children
On August 14th,
the Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) will sponsor the
annual Back-to-School Shopping at K-Mart in Iowa City.
HACAP
donates money to each school-age child to provide school supplies,
tennis shoes, socks, and underwear so they can go back to school well
prepared.
We need
more volunteers to help with the shopping. We assign one
volunteer to each family to aid the parent in making purchases and also
to let them know there are friendly people in the community who want to
help make the shopping fun and easier.
Let
Jeanie at HACAP know if you can help…it will only take an hour or so
and will make a difference on Saturday, August 14. You will be
assigned a specific family and time to meet. HACAP phone number
is 337-5765.
We also
want to encourage people to donate school supplies at the little red
school houses…all four Community Credit Unions, Hy Vee on Waterfront
and First Avenue, and SuperWal-Mart in Coralville and
K-Mart. Call Jeanie now and volunteer!
