Listen to what Howard has been saying…

No
matter who wins the Presidential race this November, our job is to run,
and to help people run, and to start at county commissioner and state
legislator and city council, and to positions of power in your
Democratic committees, and keep doing that, and some of us will move up
to Congress, and to the Senate, and we'll win Governorships, and before
they realize it, the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party will be
the Democratic Party again.

“…maybe not in the first 100 days, or in the first 1000 days…but let us begin.”

He told us, we have the power. We've started to use it. We must continue, and grow.

Virginians — in 2005, we elect a new state legislature. Start planning now to run for that legislature. I am.

Those of
you in the other 49, if you are one of the brave people who have taken
up the call, you are our heroes and pathfinders. The rest of us, we
have work to do.

Hillary
was upset watching Dean's reception because she thought her “turn” at
POTUS was coming up and now she knows she's got to get back in line
behind Howard.

Obama's
speech was awesome. Dean with characteristic modesty, “But this was
never about me. It was about us. It was about giving new life to our
party, new energy to our democracy, and providing hope again for the
greatest nation on earth.”

Just
heard Barack Obama and all I can say is that you've just seen the first
Black President (Big Dog notwithstanding). I don't know when, but I'm
sure that Barak's day is coming.

I really
miss Howard Dean. I'm still having a hard time volunteering for Kerry.
I plan to vote for him and want him to win, but it's hard to volunteer
with the people who tried so hard to make us lose here in Iowa…..

You
don't have to volunteer for Kerry. The other day, Howard said we can be
successful with a bottom-up structure rather than a top-down structure.
Blog for Iowa has a growing list of progressive candidates in Iowa. You
will be among friends working for one of those candidates. You will
work to get out the vote for the candidate you like, and those voters
will end up voting for the top of the ticket, too.

Listen up, DNC/DLC, Faux Media lurkers…

You all
thought we would lie down and die after Iowa…you thought that we
would lick your boots while we were struggling to rise again.

I've got REAL NEWS for you:

We're NEVER going away, and we're NEVER giving up!

WE DON'T LICK BOOTS, we USE THEM TO KICK BUTT!!

I DARE you to print this…I just DARE you, you loser politicians and faux reporters from hell!

*Posted by Judy at July 27, 2004 10:19 PM

“I think the DNC and DLC will be pushing forth Obama and NOT Dean as their future. Tonight that was obvious.

*Posted by vb at July 27, 2004 10:19 PM”

They
will try to get their hooks into him. But, Obama was an early supporter
of Dean, and vice versa. We need to make sure he remembers where his
base is.

Oh the
look on Hillary's face: “I thought we killed him!?” Almost as delicious
as the JJ dinner in Iowa when she was one-upped by Howard.

You know McMuffin [McAuliffe] was wondering how those people smuggled in the Dean signs.

So the talk on the convention floor is that the greeting for Dean was 30 seconds longer then what Clinton received.

I cried
from the moment Howard was introduced until after he left the podium.
It's a sin that he's not getting the nomination–there sure would be a
lot more motivated, energetic activists out there making sure he wins
in Nov.

I
*loved* the shocked look on McAuliffe's face. Does he STILL not get it?
I suggest we all e-mail, call and write the DNC and tell him how we
won't forget how he screwed Dean and the grassroots activists. Grrr.
Hill looked like she was sucking lemons.

I was
able to see Dean's speech on both C-Span and PBS, and noticed that PBS
cut Dean's applause by a good 50%. They also cut 100% of Carol
Moseley-Braun's speech.

So much for the public airwaves.

FOLKS,
FOLKS….On PBS, Margaret Warner led a discussion about Dean's future
just before his speech. Nobody said he was “washed up.” What was said
was that his political future is assured, especially if Kerry wins.

After
the speech, more time was spent by Jim Lehrer and Shields & Brooks
agreeing that Dean had had a tremendous influence on the campaign and
the Democratic party and that we haven't heard the last from him.
